OMGNailStrips-review!

OMG indeed...These are amazing!

I was very lucky to be sent some OMGNailStrips to review & give my honest opinion.

I was sent two designs: peacock & black lace nail strips-the second of which I shall be showing you today.

I was slightly dubious about trying these (On my newly shaped nails-almond) being a complete novice to nail wraps, nail polish strips etc, I thought they might be tricky to use. I am now convinced, however, that they are in fact foolproof!

I did follow the instructions on the back of the pack-however I found a couple of little tricks that made application go even more smoothly:  Before soaking I just went over every nail with a cotton pad soaked in remover to ensure the nails were thoroughly clean. It's important to push your cuticles back after soaking them to ensure the closest possible fit. Then I gently buffed each nail, I found that the strips adhered easier to a non shiny surface. Then I placed the appropriate sized strip onto the nail & smoothed it out-really easy & no bubbling/creasing! Then I filed off the excess strip in a downwards motion. Finally a coat of topcoat & a little extra along the tips of the nails to seal & I was left with some pretty impressive looking nails!

One of the things I really liked about these strips was the fact that they had the size written underneath them, so once you found the right size for one hand it was easy to match with the other. So far I've had these on for around 5 days- I would say at least 7 nails still look perfect & the other 3 are just starting peel at the tips. I think the fact they last up to 10 days could be a little on the optimistic side, but my nails have taken a battering the last few days-mainly from Christmas present wrapping & the joys of getting stuck to everything by Sellotape!

The amount of people who have commented on my nails in the last few days has been astounding-from shop assistants to family members, everyone was wanting to know where I had got my nails done! For $7.99 you get a stunning manicure at a fraction of the price of a salon visit, that absolutely anyone can do themselves!

OMGNailStrips are available to purchase at:www.omgnailstrips.com for $7.99. They also have special deals for multi buys: 5 packs for $25 with the coupon code: 5pack & 10 packs for $45 with the code: 10pack.

You can find out more information & application techniques by visiting their website above, or their Facebook page.

I am so pleased I got the chance to try these & I will, without a doubt, be making a purchase for more very soon!

Have you tried nail wraps/polish strips before & have you got any useful tips for application?

Glossy Box July 2014 review

Today I'll be reviewing my July Glossybox- this months theme is Stars and Stripes.

Yep you've guessed it this box has an American theme & subscribers were promised at least 4 full size items.
The box is patterned with stars on the lid & stripes on the base, it's pretty cute! Also I'm not sure if my box was missed but there was no glossy magazine this month?

Here's my box:

As always I'll review the items in the order I was most pleased to receive them.

Firstly is tarte lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascara. I love mascara I have way too many, but I'm always happy to receive new ones to try! Still haven't found anything to beat my favourite mascara-Loreal miss manga mascara...maybe this one will...?
full size: £19.50

Absolute New York perfecting eye-shadow primer. Eye-shadow primer has long been a staple in my makeup bag so I was happy to get to try one that isn't my usual urban decay/too faced ones.
full size: $4.99 approx: £2.92

Bellapierre cosmetics LTD Mineral lipstick. This lipstick feels lovely and moisturising on the lips &the colour definitely packs a punch... I think it may be a little 'too much' for me, but hey Summer is all about embracing bright colours so who knows! I received the shade: mandarina-see the quick swatch below.
full size: £20

Carmex lip balm. I have loved this for years & this was the original cult balm that i first tried. Since then I prefer the twist up lipbalms, especially the pomegranate one! it's perfect for moisturising your lips under bright lipsticks.
full size: £2.69

Color Club nail polish in Glossy Seal. I know what you're thinking a nail polish is my least favourite item? It is, but only because of the colour which is a dark grey leaning teal colour... it is supposed to be summer, no....?!
full size: $8 approx: £4.67

I would say this months box was quite good. I definitely prefer receiving makeup and the colour selection may push me to be braver with my makeup choices. Another box that is great value for money, with a mix of high end/high street products. Also my box contained 5 full size items, which I was very happy about.

Price of box and P&P: £13.25
value of contents approx: £49.78

Were you happy with your box? Receive anything different?

Glossy Box June 2014 review

Today I'll be reviewing my June Glossy Box-this months theme is Summer is here!

This months box aims to help you channel summer beauty in one easy step. It promises to contain 3 full sized products and the total value is worth over £45.

Here's my box:

As always I'll review the items in the order of which I was most pleased with them.

Firstly is the Teeez Trend Cosmetics: beautiful flat stiff brush, which is meant to be perfect for applying either cream or powder  shadows. I must admit I'm just a sucker for the pretty handle!

full size: 19 Euros which works out to approx £15.16

Next I received So Susan Cosmetics: Universal Blush. This is meant to adapt to your skins natural chemistry...to create a healthy and natural looking flush. I must say although pleased with this item I would have loved to have tried the concealer quad!

Full size: £18

Rituals: Qi Gong spray. A 24hr deodorant body spray. This smells gorgeous, like summer in a can! Also the handy 50ml size makes it perfect for handbags!

Full size: £3.50

Next is nailgirls: 3-in-1 base/topcoat & nail strengthener...that's a multi-tasking product if ever I saw one! You're probably wondering why this isn't higher up on my list as you all know I'm obsessed with polish...it's just hard to get excited about what is essentially clear nail polish, however it will come in handy I'm sure.

Full size: £13.50

Lastly we have QV Skincare: skin lotion. This can be used as dry skin relief, in treating conditions like eczema & as a make-up remover. I will definitely try this on my eczema as it seems to flare up at the first sign of sunshine! However the only downside is that I hate the smell...it stinks! Also my tiny bottle seems to only be about a quarter full!

full size: £6.06 for 250ml Sample size: 15ml approx: 35p

All in all I am quite happy with this months box. Standout items were definitely the make-up brush and the blusher. However the body spray is gorgeous too! This months box was definitely great value for money and I will be using all of the products this month! Also I received 4 full size items!

Price of box & P&P: £13.25
Value of contents approx: £50.51

Did you get any different items? Were you as happy with your box?

Smitten Polish Amas Veritas

Today I have one of the most gorgeous polishes to show you-Amas Veritas by Smitten polish. It's a hot pink jelly packed full of fuchsia and holographic glitter. Application was flawless and it reached opacity in two easy coats. I can honestly say that I loved this polish so much, that after it started to chip, (after about a weeks wear) I took it off and put it straight back on again-a first for me! The name Amas Veritas is from the film Practical Magic and is the name of the spell cast to find true love...so it seems apt that I fell head over heels for this stunning polish!

All pictures show 2 coats of polish and a coat of HK Girl topcoat:

This polish is so pretty, it looks amazing indoors but it really comes to life in the sunshine as it sparkles like crazy! I really think Smitten do micro-glitter packed jellies, very well indeed-I have quite a few in my collection!

I must say Smitten is one of my favourite indie nail polish brands, do like their polishes as much as me?

Glossy box May 2014 review

Today I'll be reviewing my May Glossy box. The summer beauty edit edition with Superdrug.

Glossy box have teamed up with Superdrug who are celebrating their 50th birthday to bring a box full of beauty goodies, four of which were promised to be full sizes plus some little extras.

Here's my box:

As always I'll review the items in order of which products I was most pleased to receive:

Firstly I received Maybelline New York colorshow crystallize nail polish in Nearly black. (they should know by now they can't go wrong giving me polish!!)

It's a gorgeous polish full of sparkles in a blackened base. I'm looking forwards to wearing this!
full size: £3.99

Next I received B. sheer conditioning lipstick in Flamingo. This is a gorgeous colour that looks and feels like a tinted balm but the colour can be built up for more opacity.
full size: £6.99

Next up is scholl velvet smooth overnight mask, which claims to hydrate your feet for up to 24 hours. I have only used this once and I can honestly say that I've noticed a big difference in the rough skin on my heels. A few more uses and I'm confident that my feet will be silky smooth!
full size: £7.99

Collection- Bronze Glow Mosaic in no2 radiance. For quite a cheapy brand I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this bronzer. The different coloured mosaic pieces blend together for a sunkissed glow. Definitely a much more affordable version of the iconic Guerlain Terracotta bronzer which costs £31.05 whereas the collection costs:
full size: £2.99

John Frieda Frizz-Ease original 6 effects serum. I hate receiving hair products and as my hair tends to lean to the oily side it definitely doesn't need serum! However my Nan who has regular perms has already claimed this, so It wont be going to waste!
full size: £3.99

Also included were two samples: Garnier oil body lotion and Ghost fragrances Eclipse. It's nice to get a perfume sample, not as one of the five main items but, as a little added extra.

So all in all this months box has made up for my disastrous box last month (which oops I never got around to reviewing!) I was promised 4 full size items and I received 5, which was very pleasing! All of which I will use with the exception of the hair serum. I must just reiterate how much I love the foot mask-it really works! Great as it's getting to sandal season!

Price of box and P&P: £13.25
value of contents: approx £25.95

Revlon Starry pink!

Today I have to show you a gorgeous polish from Revlon, called Starry pink. It's a pale pink polish full of silver round and hex glitters. It leans on the sheer side but I'm confident it could reach full opacity with 3 coats.
Pictures below show two coats and as you can see there some VNL, which I actually quite liked.

I know revlon polishes tend to divide opinion but I really rather like them and this polish in-particular is subtle yet stunning. Keep an eye out for revlon polishes in £1 shops as I've had a few lucky finds!

What's your opinion on Revlon polishes?
